Dare to Dream And Chase Them!

We all have dreams. Some are big and bold, others are small but deeply rooted. As children, we knew exactly what made us happy. We wanted to be adventurers, artists, firefighters, superheroes, no dream was too crazy.
But somewhere along the way, that changed. Suddenly, we had to be serious. Make the ‘smart’ choice. We were judged on grades, not creativity. On performance, not passion. We learned to think inside the box, until we found ourselves trapped inside one.

From Free Dreamer to Trapped in Society
As a child, I could lose myself in my own world for hours. I made up stories, played outside, and dreamed of a life filled with freedom. But school felt like a prison. I was a dreamer, a misfit, and that wasn’t appreciated. In primary school, I was bullied, by both classmates and teachers, just for being ‘different.’ In high school, I felt stuck in a system that didn’t fit me.
Still, I did what was expected of me. Because that’s how it was supposed to be.
My parents wanted me to get a good education, find a stable job, buy a house, so I did. I tried to fit into the mold. But somewhere along the way, I lost myself.
The Dream That Keeps Whispering
My childhood dream was simple: I wanted to live in nature, play outside, and create beautiful things. But for years, I let myself be guided by what was ‘reasonable.’ I had ‘good’ jobs, a life that looked perfect on paper, but inside, I felt empty. I was living by society’s rules, but not by my heart.
Until I realized: this is not the life I am here for.
At 41, I finally had the courage to choose my own path. No longer living for others, but for myself. No longer trying to meet expectations, but following my heart. I chose freedom, creativity, and working with people. I chose a life that truly fits me.
Choosing Yourself And the World Changes With You
Today, I only do things that are good for me, for those around me, and for the world. This is the intention I wake up with and the one I go to sleep with. I act consciously, knowing that every choice shapes my life and my impact on others.
Carl Jung posed an important question: What happens when you choose yourself? When you stop following the path that society has laid out for you?
Self-love is the highest good. When you truly love yourself, you radiate love to others and to the world. But self-love isn’t always easy. It takes courage to look in the mirror and accept not only who you are today but also the choices you made yesterday.
Yet, once you fully embrace yourself and walk your own path, everything begins to change.
Yes, some people in your life may not understand your choices. And that’s okay. Maybe they were never meant to stay. But you will also attract people who truly belong in your life, people who share your values, your dreams, and your way of seeing the world.
Listen to Your Body, Trust Your Intuition
Dare to pause and reflect on how certain situations and people make you feel.
How does your body react when you’re in a situation that drains you?
How does it feel when you are surrounded by positivity and authenticity?
Your body knows. Your intuition speaks to you. Trust it.
You Are Not a Sheep
Being different is not just okay, it’s powerful.
Society tries to put us in boxes, making us believe that this is what life is supposed to be: we are born, go to kindergarten, primary school, high school, university, get a job, marry, buy a house, have children, work for 40+ years, retire, and finally, in our 60s, we can rest.
But is that really life?
We live under the illusion of freedom. But are we truly free?
We pretend we are in control of our lives, but are we?
Society has created a system to make us believe this is the only reality. But in truth, we are trapped. We live according to what is expected of us, not what our soul truly desires. We fear change. We fear judgment. We fear our own power. We fear being different. We fear chasing our dreams.
But what if we stopped fearing?
What If YOU Chased Your Dreams?
What if you stopped listening to the voices of doubt?
What if you stopped waiting for the right moment, and created the moment yourself?
What if you took the first step today, no matter how small?
The world doesn’t need more people walking in straight lines. The world needs people who follow their hearts, who let their light shine, who dare to walk their own path.
Dare to dream. Dare to live. Dare to leap.
With all my love,
Marije
